How we are being successful

or, somehow doing the right thing

Now 108 days!

First an apology. I read that post from yesterday and YIKES! What a lot of typos. Not my best editiing job. That was written on my phone while riding a bus. I promise not to do that again.

The post was in my head and it needed to get out!

Down again!

As of this morning, I am down 29.3 pounds. I really don’t know when I weighed that little. Kelly is down also. So something is going on.

To be honest, we really haven’t changed that much of what we were already doing. We eat healthy. We don’t gorge on chips, cookies or many sweets. A lot of sugar and carbs were taken out of our diet a while ago.

So what the heck?

The Secret Sauce

The one thing in Weight Watchers (now WW) that we think has helped us is Food Freedom.

If you recall from yesterday, we are foodies. We love the exploration and experience of food. WW allows us to do that, with guidance. And that is key!

All about the points

You don’t like math? No problem. Don’t like having to measure, count, weigh, calculate, you know math stuff? WW’s gotcha!

It’s really pretty simple. Each day you have a certain amount points you are allowed to eat. Don’t go over. Well, you can a little.

Second, BONUS POINTS! As you move throughout the day, you gain points. Which, yes you guessed it, allows you to eat more. Stay within the points, and you will be successful.

The app does all the math for you!

OK, that’s WAY too simplistic.

The point of it all

Everything you eat, is assigned a point. You can have a Burger King Whopper Jr, 12 points. Or, you can create a food such as our Tortilla Burgers, with cheese, lettuce tomatoes, grilled onions, dijon mustard, that are 7 points. You can get fast food fries, 11 points. Or cook Ore Ida Extra Crispy Fast Food Fries for 4 points.

We get the Lidl fries which are 2 points.

You are free to choose what you want to eat, just stay within the points. However,

Why Food Freedom is important

Being constrained by a diet sucks! All they tell you to do is don’t eat the things you love. Stay away from those, and your good.

Then you run into the aurguments within diets about what you can or cannot eat. Keto is a great example. Can you or can you not eat potatoes? Yes AND no, depending on what you read.

Well, that’s demeaning and demotivating. F that.

WW gives us the freedom to choose the food we want to eat. Like I said earlier, we already ate healthy. Evidently, we could have eaten better and now we are.

That’s just one thing that has helped us.

The other thing is…

You’ll have to wait until tomorrow. I don’t want to make these long ramblings.

If you are enjoying these, please share. I appreciate all of you reading and being subscribers.

The other thing tomorrow!
